Alternative Education

Appomattox County Public Schools' Alternative Education (Alt. Ed) model is one of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our staff works hard to make sure that all students’ educational needs and career goals are aligned so they are ready for their future. 

The Alt Ed. program at Appomattox County High School uses a uniquely personalized approach to education in order to meet the needs of all students. The learner-centered environment offers a tailored plan for each student, always keeping in mind the motto of supporting students to "Create What's Next" for themselves. Students have the opportunity to accelerate their learning and not only graduate on time, but be prepared for success in their chosen Post-Secondary Pathway. Every student in our Alternative Education program has a dedicated staff member  who knows them personally, supports them in setting educational and personal goals, and partners with them to achieve those goals.
