FFA wins Career Applications in Horticulture Contest
A team of four students from the Appomattox County High School FFA chapter
competed in the State Career Applications in Horticulture contest at the 2024 State Fair
of Virginia. During the event, each participant was required to identify common
horticultural crops, distinguish plant parts, interpret seed labels, describe industry safety
standards, and complete an indirect seeding practicum for a panel of judges. Jameria
Reeves was the 7 th high individual. Thresa-Grace Rowe was crowned the 3 rd high
individual in the event. The team of Dagan Almond, Emily McCauley, Jameria Reeves,
and Thresa-Grace Rowe placed 1 st in the event and were crowned State Champions. The
team was coached by FFA Advisor, Ed McCann.
